What is this site all about?
eBCalc is a free online eBay fee calculator. It allows anyone who sells on eBay to find out what their
total eBay and PayPal fees would be if they were to sell an item on eBay.
How do I use this site?
For step-by-step instructions on how to use the calculator check out the
Quick Overview of calculating eBay and PayPal fees section of
the manual.
What does "Reverse Calculating My Net Profit" mean?
It basically means entering a certain amount of Net Profit that you wish to receive (what I call your
"Desired Net Profit") and the calculator will tell you what you would need to charge for S&H in order
to receive that amount. Check out the
Reverse Calculating Net Profit section of the manual for
more info.
What does "Reverse Calculating My Shipping & Handling" mean?
Reverse calculating your shipping & handling is what I call it when the calculator figures out the
"ideal" amount you should be charging for shipping & handling in your auction? What is the "ideal"
amount of S&H you ask? Well it's simply your actual cost of shipping plus your total eBay and PayPal fees.
This means that all of the fees you incur as a seller are accounted for and are placed into the handling portion of your shipping & handling amount. For more info check out the
Reverse Calculating Shipping & Handling section of the manual.
How long did it take to make this site?
Hmm, I think all things considered it took me around 3 months to make this site.
Does this calculator work for eBay Canada, eBay UK, eBay Australia, etc.?
To change the fee rates the calculator is using to those of another country (eBay Canada, eBay UK, etc.)
simply choose your desired country from the Country dropdown list in the Options toolbar. Check out
the section in the help manual entitled Country Selection for more
info.
Where do I enter what I initially paid for my item?
Different calculators refer to this amount by different names. Basically this amount is useful because
often times people buy things simply to resell them on eBay. Any program which calculates eBay fees
should have a field for this amount (this could also be called your "cost" or your "item cost"). In this
calculator I refer to it as your Cost To Acquire. Your Cost To Acquire
is the price that you paid to initially acquire the item. By giving the calculator
this amount it allows it to accurately display the true Net Profit on your
auction. Remember, your Net Profit is what you have left over after all fees, charges, shipping costs,
etc. have been deducted, which includes your Cost To Acquire. For example, if you buy an
item for $18 and sell it for $20 you would be making $2 profit (not counting eBay and PayPal fees). For more info
check out the section in the help manual entitled
Calculating eBay And PayPal fees.
Where is the 10-Day auction listing upgrade?
You're probably looking in the Listing Upgrades
box :) To add the 10-Day Auction listing upgrade to the calculator you need to use the Listing Duration dropdown.
Check out the section in the help manual entitled
Calculating eBay And PayPal fees for more info.
What does the "Custom" option mean in the Listing Upgrades box?
That is what I call a custom listing upgrade. A custom listing ugrade is basically
anything you want it to be. It's a listing upgrade which you can assign any name and any price. When that
option is checked the calculator will add the appropriate amount you've entered into your calculated eBay
fee amounts.
So how do I use it?
To use it first you press the plus (+) button next to the word
"Custom". Then the calculator prompts you for a name for your upgrade. So you enter a name. After you
enter a name, the calculator prompts you for a price for your upgrade. After you enter a price it adds whatever name
you've typed into the calculator. Now, whenever you want to include that upgrade (and it's associated fee) into your
calculated fee amounts simply check the checkbox by it's name. If you want to delete the upgrade simply click the
minus (-) button next to it's name.
In the Modify Fees dialog, how do I save my fees after I've changed them?
You simply press the "OK" button. The "OK" button acts like a "Save" button.
It saves the fee amounts you've entered into the calculator and closes the dialog. The "Cancel" button
closes the dialog without saving your changes, and the "Apply" button saves the fee rates you've entered
but leaves the dialog open.
