eBay Stores Overview

eBay Stores

eBCalc is also capable of calculating fees for eBay Stores. You may be wondering, what is this eBay Stores thing anyway? Well, eBay Stores is basically a way for large-volume sellers to list many items at once at a reduced cost. If you operate an eBay Store you can list your items on eBay in a special format called the Store Inventory Format. Items listed using the Store Inventory Format operate on a different fee schedule than regular eBay.com and also have a different placement within eBay search results.

Unlike normal auctions which have a relatively short duration (1, 3, 5, 7, or 10 days), items listed using the Store Inventory Format have an extended duration of 30 days. You can also list an item on eBay Stores with a duration of "Good 'Til Cancelled" which will basically run your auction indefinitely charging you the applicable fees every 30 days. eBay Stores used to offer extended durations of 60, 90, and 120 days but they have since removed those and now you are only allowed to list an item for 30 days or "Good 'Til Cancelled" in eBay Stores. eBCalc still has options for these durations though, because sometimes it's helpful to know what the fees would be for a duration of that length (60, 90, or 120 Days).

When eBCalc goes to calculate fees for a duration that's not 30 days (for instance 60 or 90 days), it simply takes the current fee amounts for a 30-day listing and multiples it by the approriate amount. For example, if you were to use eBCalc to calculate the fees for a 60-day eBay Stores listing, eBCalc will first calculate the applicable fees for a 30-day eBay Stores listing and then multiply it by 2. Or if it were a 90-day listing it would multiply them by 3, and so on.

Another important thing to remember about eBay Stores fees is that they are not dependant on quantity. Whether you are selling 1 or 1,000 items within the same listing you will still pay the same listing fees. Items listed using the Store Inventory Format also have heavily reduced listing fees. Currently the listing (inertion) fee is only $0.05 for a 30-day listing. However, the Final Value Fees for eBay Stores are slightly increased. See the current eBay Stores fee schedule.

Listing Upgrades also work a little differently with eBay Stores. First of all, only a few of them are available and secondly their prices are much different. Here is a list of the listing upgrades you can use on eBay Stores with items listed using the Store Inventory Format along with their prices:

Gallery (Cost: $0.01 / 30 days)
Subtitle (Cost: $0.02 / 30 days)
Listing Designer (Cost: $0.10 / 30 days)
Bold (Cost: $1.00 / 30 days)
Border (Cost: $3.00 / 30 days)
Highlight (Cost: $5.00 / 30 days)
Featured Plus! (Cost: $19.95 / 30 days)

With eBay Stores you pay a fixed monthly fee (called your "subscription fee") which can vary depending on which type of store you have. Currently the minimum subscription fee to operate an eBay Store (called a "Basic Store") is $15.95 per month.
